About the Author Charles E “Charlie” Hunt of Rapid City, South Dakota, had his first poem published when he was nine years old. Having grown up in the Dakotas, he grew up the “cowboy” way. He has had articles published in several national and regional magazines and his syndicated weekly column, “Scene from the Saddle” is approaching its twelfth year. His first book, FOR COWBOYS, CAMPERS, AND COMMON FOLK, If you ain’t One of These, Don’t Buy It, sold out after two printings. He has twice represented South Dakota at Elko, Nevada Cowboy Poetry Gathering and has presented his program of Cowboy Poetry in eleven states.

Hunt was the first president of the South Dakota Cowboy Poets Association. He’s also a member of the Western Writers of America, the National Writers Association, the Black Hills Writers Group, The South Dakota Historical Society, the museum of the Fur Trade, the Westerners and an honorary member of the 50 years in the Saddle Club in North Dakota.
